Outside work

Julie and I live in Hellerup with Solvej and Alice. Most of our spare time happens in a sports hall, a stable or at Hyrox.

HIK Håndbold

I have been a coach and team manager at HIK Håndbold since 2024 and have had four teams, from U9 mixed to U11 girls. Before that I coached football at B1903 in 2020-2021. We usually train on Fridays and Saturdays, and then there are tournaments. Lots of tournaments.

The tournaments are why I built a tournament planner (in Danish): entry deadlines, halls, driving times and which kit we wear against whom. With several teams and a long tournament season, that is where things slip.

School board

I have been an elected parent member of the school board at Dyssegårdsskolen since 2022 and was re-elected in 2026. Among other things we have made a new mobile phone policy and worked on the homework policy.

What I care most about: when you write a principle, it is because you want a behaviour to change. So write down up front which behaviour you expect to see, so you can check whether the principle is alive. And get a principle for AI in place before the first case, not after.

WOD Team

At Gladsaxe CrossFit I train with the same group, who call themselves WOD Team. We have a chat where a photo of the whiteboard with the day's WOD and the times goes up after most sessions. Plus a fair amount of teasing about who scaled.

Every year we run a competition in two parts. In February we do a benchmark WOD and have lunch afterwards. In October or November we do the same WOD again. Then it is there in black and white who moved.

Our annual WOD is Barbara. Five rounds of 20 pull-ups, 30 push-ups, 40 sit-ups and 50 squats, with three minutes of rest between rounds.

  2. 2October or NovemberBarbara again. Lunch or a night out.
  3. 3The awardsWe vote for Performer of the Year and High Jumper of the Year.

Performer of the Year goes to whoever put in an extraordinary effort and pushed themselves. High Jumper of the Year goes to whoever developed the most or stood out in one discipline. The winners get their name engraved on a travelling trophy, and last year's winners have to bring it to the next awards themselves.

It is the same idea as Snitches & Flowers at work: what gets seen and said out loud gets done again.
